Manfred Manfred F. R. Kets de VriesDistinguished Clinical Professor of Leadership Development and Organizational ChangeINSEAD The Business School for the World "One of my acquaintances has two farms in the Limpopo Province area. For a number of years, he kept insisting that I hunt on one of his properties. As I am an old Africa hand (having hunted in many of the African countries for over twenty times) South Africa, normally is not my hunting country of choice. It‘s "too civilized" for me. But after much prompting by my friend, I decided to take a ten-day hunting break with my wife. As I have obtained most species available in Southern Africa, I decided to give myself (and my guide) a handicap and hunt for animals that are very difficult to obtain. I put on my wish list in order of importance: serval (I had tried to hunt this species before with dogs without success), honey badger, brown hyena, bush pig, large spotted genet, and the African wild cat. For good measure, I also threw in bushbuck and warthog. In addition, I booked a day of bird hunting. Although my friend had told me that his farm had an oversupply of nyala (which was true), I was not interested to add yet another one to my collection.   Personally, I thought my wish list was really “mission impossible.” But you can always hope... However, on the first day (having just arrived at the camp) my PH (Jacques Brits) received a phone call from a local farmer that a serval (the person described it as a small leopard) was hanging around his farm trying to get at his chickens. So off we went, and late in the day I obtained a large serval before the hunt really had started. Our next challenge was the brown hyena and the honey badger. Jacques had found an ideal spot where these animals seemed to hang around (confirmed by pictures taken with a trail camera). There was only one small "catch": the place was also frequented by bush pigs, animals attractive to leopards. Thus twice, while waiting for the hyena and honey badger, a leopard made a kill just behind our blind. Given the screaming of the bush pig, there went the neighborhood...No self-respecting hyena was going to show itself. Fortunately, during one of the sittings at this place (I guess the leopard must have had still some bush pig meat to chew on) produced a "doublet": a very large male bush pig and a honey badger. We also hunted twice at the Limpopo River, which turned out to be a very productive area for bushbuck. I harvested two nice specimens. And another evening, not far from the camp, I got a jackals and a large genet.   Unfortunately, our bird hunt was somewhat (literally) washed out. Although there were lots of birds, and the dogs (and handler) were excellent, it was raining and all of us got very wet. As we didn't expect this kind of weather (very unusual for this time of the year), and didn't have the cloths, we finally gave up.   The only negative comment I have to make--and that was not due to our PH (Jacques)--was our tented camp. As it belonged to my friend, he had suggested that we use it. Although it had all the conveniences, because of the temperature changes this time of the year, it ended up to be not very comfortable. Jacques told us, if he had had a choice, he would never have used this camp. He made quite clear that he had excellent ones available...but we were a little bit stuck because of the previous arrangement with my friend...   All in all, if you want to hunt the more unusual animals, or hunt the more traditional ones, Jacques (and I speak from a lengthy experience) is an excellent bet to be successful. As a very hard working and knowledgeable PH (and I have had many), I would recommend him any time.” All the best
Ernst Harms “With Jacques on the hunt and you have success.  My expectations were high. But they were exceeded!!!”  Ben Patterson “Hunting with Mangwa was a great experience and a epic adventure.  Jacques went above and beyond to really make this trip a life long memory and I can’t wait to come back. For a great experience and great hunting I highly recommend biking with Mangwa.”  Pierre Visser “Baie dankie vir ‘n onvergeetlike eerste jag. Zdanas “It was a pleasure to spend my time with Mangwa: good food, accommodation in camp, friendly atmosphere, a lot of wild nature. Thanks to Jacques!”

Gitte and Peter: "The perfect combination of family, hunting and nature holiday.   It can be really recommended to go on holiday with Jacque Britts from Mangwa hunting Safaris. We started in South Africa on 3 days of hunting. The 4 off us had some exciting days and all were shot what we had wished for, both the experienced hunter and the novice hunter. Then we drove to Botswana where we spent the night in Elephant Sands, a lodge built around a water hole where elephants came and drank. It was the wildest experience to stay so close to the big animals. Then we went to Zambezi river in Namibia. We were fishing on the river and saw crocodiles, hippopotamus and lots of beautiful birds. It was interesting to watch the locals live in mud huts, sail in dugout canoes and see the women fetch water from the river. Where is it healthy to experience that one can be happy and smiling without power, phones, internet. Food for thought. So we went on to Zimbabwe and Victoria Falls. Wauv - a lot off water comes out of that shower. Breathtaking views. Then we went south again via another eventful night in Elephant Sands, followed by an overnight stay in the lodge in South Africa before the trip ended in the airport in Johannesburg.   Jacque is very service minded and good at getting everyone to feel comfortable. All applauded both hunting, delicious food and drink. There were no additional charges beyond the fixed price agreed in advance.   It will not be our last trip to Africa and next time we will go with Jacque Britts again. We thought it was a great fun, beautiful, beautiful and breathtaking experience.   Regards Gitte Nørgaard and Peter Mikkelsen"

Along the way there were hunting, where everyone got their wish fulfilled, fishing for tiger fish on the Zambezi River, spending the between elephants (Elephant Sands) and got the magnificent experience to see Victoria Falls.
